Information for Candidates and Voters

The 2022 general local election for the Town of Lake Cowichan will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2022 for eligible voters to elect the following:
  • One (1) Mayor for the Town of Lake Cowichan; and
  • Four (4) Councillors for the Town of Lake Cowichan.
  • Seven (7) School Board Trustees for the Cowichan Valley School District - School District 79.
  • For other details pertaining to the Town please refer to the Notice of Nomination.

Two advance voting opportunities will also be provided for citizens prior to the General Election Day.

New electors who have moved to the Town of Lake Cowichan recently and who meet the eligibility requirements may register in advance or may do so on voting days.

Nomination Documents for Candidates

Nomination document forms are now available at the municipal office.

Nomination period begins at 9:00 a.m. local time on August 30, 2022 and ends at 4:00 p.m. local time on September 9, 2022. Completed nomination documents must be delivered to the to the Chief Election Officer, or designate at the Town Office temporarily located in the former Island Savings building at 38 King George Street North, Lake Cowichan, BC between the hours of 9:00 a.m. on and 4:00 p.m, excluding weekends and statutory holidays and by no later than the close of the nomination period at 4.00 p.m. on September 9, 2022.
